Graduated from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California in 1976 with a Bachelor of Professional Arts degree in Advertising Illustration.
Opened Chris Kuhlman Photography in 1977 specializing in corporate location multi-media work for clients in Houston and globally. Chris' work has been recognized by organizations such as the New York Film Festival.
1977-Present - Advertising and corporate photography for major clients and agencies over the past 32 years, including: Port of Houston Authority, Space Center Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, American Lung Association, Convex Computers, Duta Angata, Fina Petroleum, Fingers Furniture, Gerald Hines Interest, GTE, Great Giant Pineapple Company, Houston Bar Association, Methodist Hospital, and Posada International Hotels.
Above & Beyond Publishing, Inc. was formed as a micro-publisher for projects produced by Chris. Additionally, he has written and produced Above & Beyond the Galveston Bay System, an aerial-pictorial guidebook and the Seabrook Restaurant and Visitors Guide.
Chris's fine art photography and stock is represented by galleries in Houston and the Bay Area and features environmental subjects including sea birds, wetlandscapes and the waterfront lifestyle.
Personal
Chris lives, works and plays out of his bayfront home-studio on Galveston Bay in Seabrook,Texas, a short 35 minutes from downtown Houston.
He spends much of his 'spare time' dedicating services to environmental groups and his community. He especially loves doing anything outdoors from planting marsh grass for wetlands restoration to kayaking around the world. An avid sea kayaker, Chris is a certified coastal open water instructor and is a co-founder of the Houston Association of Sea Kayakers.
He is active in his church, enjoys reading, mountain biking, travel, practicing TaiChi and training his frisky Border Collie.
